학교의 교실마다 키우고 있는 반려 동물들이 탈출을 꿈꿉니다. 특히 2학년 교실에 있는 햄스터인 GW(조지 워싱턴)이 주동자입니다. 장장 3개월 2주 1일(총107일) 동안 교실의 감옥같은 우리에 갇혀 지냈던 햄스터 GW는 교싱의 선생님과 아이들이 눈치채지 못하도록 비밀리에 탈출 준비를 합니다. 우리에 두껍게 깔린 톱밥 바닥 밑에 땅굴을 파고, 아이들이 준 연필, 지우개, 리본, 스프링, 가위, 자, 머리핀 등을 숨겨놓고 때를 기다렸습니다. 어느날 밤, GW는 그동안 숨겨놨던 잡동사니들을 이용해서 멋진 탈출장치를 만들고, 마침내 출입구의 문을 따고 탈출에 성공합니다. 그리고 GW는 다른 교실에 갇혀 있는 친구인 토끼 배리와 기니아피그 바이터를 함께 탈출시키려고 합니다만, 이들은 나름대로 학교 생활에 적응해서 만족한 생활을 하고 있네요. 간신히 이들을 설득해서 함께 탈출하려는 순간, 고학년반의 반려동물들인 11마리의 생쥐들과 커다란 구렁이뱀이 이들의 탈출을 가로 막았습니다. 이들은 왜 탈출을 방해하는 걸까요? GW와 친구들은 무사히 학교를 탈출할 수 있을까요?

그림과 대사 하나하나가 유머러스해서 낄낄거리며 시간가는 줄 모르고 즐길 수 있는 너무나도 재미있는 책입니다.

Unfortunately, when GW finally liberates his rodent pals, a gang of surly mice threaten their plans. Jamieson, author and illustrator of Roller Girl (Dial, 2015), here presents a giggle-worthy tale for younger readers and those just venturing into graphic novels. Easy-to-follow panels, complemented by several spreads, explode off the page with her bright and cheery palette. Visual humor abounds, from GW's gallant attempts at sword fighting with the mouse leader (using a broken piece of uncooked spaghetti) to Biter's confession that, while in kindergarten, she's found a way to channel her anger issues through meditation. VERDICT Hand this charmingly goofy graphic novel to chapter book readers who enjoy Dav Pilkey's works, Cyndi Marko's "Kung Pow Chicken" series (Scholastic), and Geoffrey Hayes's "Benny and Penny" books (TOON.)
