4명의 아이들을 키우고 있는 Refe Tuma와 Susan Tuma 부부작가의 대표작인 "What the Dinosaurs Did~" 시리즈입니다. 이 시리즈는 모든 책들은 작가부부의 4명의 아이들과 그들의 공룡 장난감들과 관련된 이야기로 시작해서 모든 장면들을 실사 사진으로 찍어서 표현하기 때문에 더욱 사실감을 느끼며 책을 볼 수 있습니다.

작가부부의 아이가 학교에 갈 때, 공룡 장난감들이 몰래 책가방 속에 숨어서 함께 학교에 갔습니다. 그리고 학교에 간 공룡 장난감들은 교실 이곳저곳을 돌아다니며 마음껏 말썽을 부리네요.

먼저 라커문을 열고 책가방에서 탈출한 공룡들은 아이들이 없는 빈 교실에 들어갔다가 "No Return" 서랍을 발견합니다. 아이들이 교칙을 어기고 학교에 몰래 가져 온 물건들을 압수해서 보관하는 곳이죠.

공룡들은 미술실에서 물감들을 뒤집어 쓰고 신나는 시간을 보낸 후,
환기구를 통해서 도서관으로 이동합니다. 도서관에서는 책을 찢어서 종이로 활과 칼을 만든 후 신나는 전쟁놀이를 합니다.
체융관에서 놀 때는 무서운 체육선생님을 조심해야 합니다. 눈에 띄면 전속력으로 도망가야 합니다...

공룡들은 이 외에도 청소도구실, 학교 식당, 과학실험실을 돌아다니며 말썽을 부리다가 결국은 모두 잡혀서 "No Return" 서랍 속에 갇히게 됩니다. 하지만 서랍 속에 갇혀 있다고 해서 이 말썽꾸러기 공룡들이 얌전하게 반성하고 있을까요?

서랍 속에 갇힌 공룡들은 서랍 안을 반짝이는 조명과 주인 잃은 스마트폰을 이용해서 신나는 댄스파티장으로 만들었어요.

결국 학교에서는 공룡들을 압수하는 대신에 박스 안에 넣고는 "제발 이 공룡들을 집으로 가져가세요"라고 써붙였네요.

The whimsical and fun photographs show real plastic dinosaurs posed in various locations throughout the school and they are the best part of the book. Somehow, the dinosaurs' expressions (which never change) seem to match whatever action is happening around them. While the text adds to the tale, the photographs are what really carry the story. This book might even inspire students to document dinosaur adventures of their own. VERDICT Amusing and fun, students who love dinosaurs will devour this book.
