남자는 작은 개 한마리를 키우고 있습니다.
여자는 큰 개 한마리와 고양이 한마리를 키우고 있습니다.

남자는 여자 집에서 함께 살기로 하고 이사를 했습니다. 물론 남자가 키우던 작은 개도 함께 따라가서, 여자가 키우던 큰 개와 고양이와 함께 살아야 하지요.

이삿짐과 함께 여자 집에 도착한 작은 개를 큰 개는 반겨주지만 고양이는 경계심을 풀지 않네요. 어색한 첫만남... 그날밤은 모두 자기 주인 옆에서 잠을 자려고 하네요.

하지만 고양이와 개들은 같이 사고를 치기도 하고, 개구리를 잡으러 같이 뛰어 가기도 하며, 같이 터그놀이도 하고, 같이 놀고, 같이 먹으면서 점점 친해졌습니다. 그리고 겨울이 되고, 어느 눈내리는 밤에 개 2마리와 고양이 1마리는 거실의 벽난로 앞에 깔아놓은 쿠션 매트 위에서 서로 꼭 붙어서 잠을 자네요. 그런데 이런 고양이-개-개 3총사의 평화를 깨는 일이 벌어졌어요. 그것은 아기의 요란한 울음소리... 식구가 1명 더 늘었네요.
