Witt has created a nonfiction guide to in-line skating that is clearly presented and peppered with humorous illustrations by Evans. Kids and parents learn the basics - the gear, how to begin skating and, most importantly, how to stop without causing severe injury to oneself. As the book says - balance is key and when learning to skate, there will probably be many falls - hence the need for knee and elbow pads and a helmet. To succeed, young skaters need to get up and keep trying, because in-line skating when mastered is great fun and terrific exercise.

The only drawback is a rather uneven style due to the occasional rhyming text. Nevertheless, this title will help beginners learn the basics of the sport.
