표지에서도 알 수 있지만 그냥 볼 때와 거꾸로 볼 때의 그림이 다르게 보이는 신기한 책입니다.
검은색과 흰색의 대조적인 색깔로 그려진 그림은 도시와 시골의 여러가지 모습을 구경하는 여행자의 시각을 표현해 줍니다. 다양한 장소가 등장하며 한 가지 그림이 두 가지 장소를 보여줍니다. 분명 농장을 표현한 그림이었는데 거꾸로 돌려보면 텍스트의 설명처럼 굴뚝에서 연기를 뿜어내는 공장지대가 나타납니다.

표지가 두꺼운 판지나 보드지가 아닌 비교적 얇은 종이를 사용해서 만든 책이며, 실박음질 대신에 풀로 제본처리하는 경우가 많습니다. 일반적으로 하드커버나 보드북에 비해서 가격이 저렴합니다. 소프트커버로 불리우기도 합니다. 책의 이음새 부분이 접히거나 휘는 내구성이 그리 좋지는 않은 책입니다.
