철없는(?) 아빠는 아이와 장난치는 것을 좋아합니다. 슈퍼에서 계산을 하면서 아이를 둘러메고는 "이 감자는 한 자루에 얼마합니까?" 물어보기도 하고, 샤워타월을 망또같이 둘러쓰고는 배트맨 흉내를 내면서 아이를 욕조로 번쩍 들고 가기도 합니다. 아이의 속옷 바지를 머리에 둘러쓰고는 "멍멍" 짖으며 강아지 흉내를 내는 아빠의 모습에는 정말 웃음을 참을 수가 없네요.^^ 직장에서 엄마가 돌아오기 전에 아빠와 아이는 맛있는 스파게티를 함께 만들지요. 그리고 잠자리에 들기 전에 엄마와 아빠가 아이의 양쪽 볼에 동시에 뽀뽀를 해주는 모습이 너무나도 정겹습니다.
화목한 가정에서 자상한 아빠가 아이와 알콩달콩 장난을 치는 모습을 보다보면 저절로 미소짓게 만드는, 아빠와 아이 간의 정을 듬뿍 느끼게 해주는 재미있는 책입니다.

Corey is a child in an ideal family. After his father picks him up at the day-care center, they shop for dinner and prepare supper. Spaghetti is piping hot when Mom arrives from her job. Then Daddy gets Corey ready for bed, and the happy threesome share a picture book and kisses. For many adults the story probably verges on fantasy, but preschoolers will find the tale reassuring. In fact, they will probably wish their own fathers would don shower cap and towel to turn into Bathman or use pajama feet for dog ears. The pictures, predominately in shades of pink, yellow and blue, are as soothing as the text, and the uncluttered rooms and spotless clothes contribute to an idealized vision of family life that many may desire but few achieve. |
