롯(Rot)은 못생긴 돌연변이 감자입니다. 롯은 썩은 음식을 먹는 것을 좋아하고, 남들과 게임을 하거나 시합을 하는 것을 좋아합니다. 심지어 거울을 보면서 자기 자신과 누가 더 오래 눈을 깜빡이지 않는지 시합을 할 정도입니다.

그런 롯에게 "세계 제일 귀염둥이 선발대회"는 절대로 빠트릴 수 없는 시합이지요. 자신 만만하게 큰 소리로 노래를 부르며 대회장에 들어섰습니다만, 롯은 다른 참가자들을 보고는 기가 팍 죽을 수 밖에 없었습니다.

솜털로 뒤덮힌 귀를 쫑긋 세우고 있는 귀여움의 끝판왕 아기토끼,
모든 이들을 자신의 집사로 만들어 버릴 것 같은 깜찍대마왕 아기고양이,
예쁜 핑크색으로 하늘하늘거리는 아기해파리...

다른 참가자들은 롯의 흉칙한 모습을 보자, 안 본 눈 산다며 눈을 질끈 감아버리네요.

자신감을 잃어버린 롯은 다른 참가자들을 모방해서 자기 자신을 좀더 귀엽게 만들기로 했습니다. 토끼같이 커다란 두 귀를 만들어서 붙이고, 고양이같이 수염을 볼 옆에 붙였습니다. 그리고 해파리처럼 온몸을 핑크색으로 칠했지요. 하지만 아무리 변신을 하려고 노력해도 자신이 더 귀여워진 것 같지 않았어요. 그래서 롯은 자기 본연의 모습으로 승부하기로 합니다. 무대 위에서 롯은 활짝 웃으면서 자신이 가장 자신있어하는 부분을 보여줬습니다. 심사위원석에서 수군수군거리는 소리가 들리고, 결과는 놀랍게도 롯이 우승을 하게 됩니다. 롯이 1등을 하게 된 이유는...
