The Storm Book, Mr. Rabbit and the Lovely Present 등으로 Caldecott상을 받은 작품들의 글을 쓴 Charlotte Zolotow의 아름다운 그림책입니다.
몇몇의 아이들에게 흘러가는 시간의 개념과 순리를 이해하는 것은 무척 어려운 일이에요. 이 책은 다가오는 특별한 기념일을 통해 아이들에게 시간의 흐름을 깨닫도록 도와줍니다.
요일, 계절, 달의 개념을 아직 이해하지 못하는 어린 소녀가 살고 있었어요. 눈이 오고 소녀는 엄마에게 이제 어떤 특별한 일이 생기는지 물어봤어요. 엄마는 '크리스마스'라고 이야기해 주었어요. 소녀는 모두가 선물을 건네고 카드를 주는 크리스마스를 너무나 좋아하게 되었어요. 당연히 크리스마스를 완전히 기억하게 된 것은 아니었지만요. 발렌타인 데이, 부활절, 여름 휴가철, 할로윈, 추수감사절... 소녀는 한 해 동안 다가오는 기념일들을 차례대로 맞이하게 되었어요. 그중에서도 가장 특별한 날은 바로 마지막에 찾아온... 소녀의 생일이었어요. 어린 소녀는 이런 특별한 날들이 앞으로도 계속 왔으면 좋겠다고 생각했어요. 물론! 앞으로도 끊이지 않고 계속될 거랍니다. 다음에는 어떤 기념일이 다가올까요(What Comes Next)?
