Add this humorous tale to the many stellar books starring pigs. Preston the Masked Avenger sneaks, spies, and slides through the night; yells "Boo!" at his victims; and disappears into the darkness. Finally, he sneaks up on the "greatest villain in the universe," his father. Before the young porker can disappear into the night, however, his dad catches him and sends him to his room. Dad then sneaks up on Preston to teach him a lesson, but it ultimately backfires when Preston surprises his parent in the bathtub. The grown-up pig is just as playful as his son, giving the story a sense of warmth. The repetition and simplicity of the text, coupled with the familiar theme, make this book a sure hit for group sharing. The cartoonlike illustrations add delightful details to the story. Both adults and children will find new and funny pictures with each reading, such as the black cat that appears in almost every scene, pig silhouettes in the windows, and even a pig-shaped topiary. This title will be asked for again and again.
