This book in the series "Brand New Readers" is designed to help children learn to read. An introductory page gives instructions on how to help a child read this book. There are four chapters of stories about two frogs, Lucy and Bob. The first page of each chapter is to be read by the adult. It summarizes the story but does not tell all. The child reads the story that is written in simple sentences, one on each page, with an illustration to help provide clues and aid in comprehension. The introduction gives suggestions of methods to help the child read, such as looking at the pictures together before reading it aloud, and reading one or two pages to the child while the adult places his finger under each word. The stories, each consisting of only eight sentences, are fun, and all have a cute ending. Children will enjoy the little adventures of the two frogs and can develop a sense of achievement when they are able to read complete stories. This book is a valuable tool in helping a child learn to read. The small size of the book is just right for little hands to hold. |
