숲 속에 밤이 찾아오고, 낮에는 잠만 자던 아기 올빼미가 잠에서 깨어났어요. 달과 별이 환하게 빛나는 오늘 밤은 너무 완벽하네요. 올빼미는 나무가지에 앉아서 친구들이 이 즐거운 밤을 어떻게 보내는지 지켜봅니다. 주머니쥐, 고슴도치, 스컹크, 비버, 거북이, 여우, 나방... 모두들 밤에 더욱 바쁘게 살고 있네요.

"달과 별이 점점 사라지고,
거미줄은 은색 실로 바뀌기 시작하고,
풀잎에 맺혀 있는 이슬은 마치 작은 별들이 내려 앉은 것처럼 반짝반짝 빛나기 시작하고,
밤나팔꽃은 꽃잎을 닥고, 대신 나팔꽃들은 꽃잎을 열고,
하늘은 검정에서 푸른색, 그리고 빨간색으로 바뀌다가 결국은 황금색으로 변하고,
수탉이 울고, 까마귀가 깍깍거리면 밤이 끝나고 아침이 온 거란다."

하지만 아기 올빼미는 엄마 올빼미의 설명을 듣지 못했네요. 이미 깊은 잠에 빠졌거든요...
