[ 책 소개 ]

말썽은 좀 부리지만, 귀엽고 사랑스러운 다섯마리 꼬마 원숭이들이 잠자리에서 침대 위를 펄쩍펄쩍 뛰는 대신에 책을 읽네요.

엄마는 불끄고 잘 자라고 말한 후, 방을 나갑니다만, 아이들은 잠이 오지 않습니다. 한 아이가 주인 잃은 강아지에 관한 슬픈 이야기책을 읽어주다 마지막에는 해피엔딩으로 끝이 나자 아이들은 환호성을 지릅니다. 엄마가 놀라서 뛰어 오고, 이제 그만 잠잘 시간이라고 말하고는 아이들이 읽었던 책을 가져가지요.

하지만 이번에는 다른 아이가 무서운 귀신이야기책을 읽어주는 바람에 모두들 비명을 지르고, 다음에는 유머책을 읽는 바람에 모두들 낄낄거리고 웃음을 터트립니다. 그때마다 엄마가 방에 들어와서 아이들을 꾸짖고 책을 뺐어갑니다.

이제 피곤해진 아이들은 모두 잠이 들려고 하는데 어디선가 낄낄거리는 소리, 웃는 소리, 심지어는 훌쩍거리는 소리까지 들리네요. 아이들이 방을 나와서 소리가 나는 곳으로 살금살금 가보니...

즐거운 반전이 기다리는 유머러스한 내용의 책입니다.
