그러나 Lily가 다음날 아침 블루 캥거루가 없어진 것을 알아 차리고 동생이 가지고 있는 블루 캥거루를 발견하고는 빼앗아 오게 됩니다.그리고 자신이 선물로 받은 많은 동물들을 모두 동생에게 주고 자신이 가장 원하고 바라는 블루 캥거루를 되찾아 오게 됩니다.
다시 사랑을 찾은 블루 캥거루 이제서야 안심을 하고 Lily의 품에 안겨 곤하게 잠이 듭니다.

Blue Kangaroo, who belongs to Lily, is an aquamarine-hued plaything with a faint smile on his long, pointy face. "Every night, Lily said, `I love you, Blue Kangaroo!' And Blue Kangaroo fell fast asleep in Lily's arms." This special, one-to-one relationship changes when family and friends begin to bring gifts for Lily, including Wild Brown Bear and Yellow Cotton Rabbit. Lily's good-night list expands to include each arrival, but readers will notice that Lily subtly distinguishes her blue pal from the rest. Even though he still hears the title phrase, Blue Kangaroo worries that he's been replaced. Clark (Little Miss Muffet's Count-Along Surprise) uses authoritative colored-pencil outlines and summertime-bright watercolors to evoke sympathy for the kangaroo in busy family scenes. As Lily cuddles her presents (none of which displays her kangaroo's attentiveness), her baby brother grabs for the lonely toy. In the end, though, Lily would rather donate all her other toys to her brother than part with Blue Kangaroo. Clark considers jealousy from several angles, exploring Blue Kangaroo's feelings and Lily's possessiveness. The reassuring message is that newcomers don't have to displace best friends, but sometimes even buddies need to be reminded that they matter.

The story is not a new one--a young girl's favorite stuffed animal suddenly becomes displaced by all of the new arrivals and begins to feel unappreciated. Lily loves her little Blue Kangaroo and takes it to bed with her every night, where she proclaims her love for Blue Kangaroo who then falls into a contented sleep. Then friends and family start giving Lily new stuffed animals who join her in bed. Each night she proclaims her love for each with Blue Kangaroo moving to the end of the litany and further away from his beloved Lily where he finds it difficult to sleep. One night he falls out of bed and heads for the baby's room and baby is thrilled. The pictures provide another story as sharp-eyed kids will no doubt notice. Baby has been coveting Blue Kangaroo and playing with him whenever Lily is distracted by the arrival of another stuffed animal. When Mother suggests that Lily give up Blue Kangaroo, she makes a decision that won't surprise any kid who has had a favorite stuffed animal. The playful illustrations and warm story of enduring love are a delight.

 인형이 넘쳐나는 우리집 같아요 |

우리 똘똘이 사랑해,,,,
우리 딸들이 인형들을 가득이 안고 하는 말이지요,
우리 집에도 릴리처럼 인형이 바구니 한가득이랍니다.
그러다 보면 개중에는 아이들이 즐겨 가지고..

그래서인지, 우리 아이들이 이 책을 한 번 읽어 주고 난 후에는 엄마 한번더 읽어 달라고
쫄쫄 따라 다니며 졸라댄답니다.
책에 나오는 릴리의 심정을 잘 아나보지요?
그리고 블루캥거루가 불쌍하다구요,
그러면서 자신들의 인형들을 모두 가져와서 침대를 점령해버리는 사태까지 벌어졌답니다.

릴리는 자기의 파란 색 캥거루를 좋아해서 밤마다 "I love you, Blue Kangaroo!"하고 말하고, 파란 색 캥거루는 릴리의 팔에서 잠을 잤지요.
그런데 어느 날 릴리의 아줌마가 와서 갈색 곰을 주고 또 다른 날은 엄마의 친구가 와서 토끼를,
또 어느 날은 아저씨가 와서 강아지를, 그렇게 오시는 어른들이 주신 인형으로 파란 색 캥거루는 점차 릴리의 사랑을 받지 못하는 듯 합니다.
어느 날 밤에 많은 인형들에 밀려서 파란 색 캥거루는 침대에서 떨어집니다.
그래서 아가의 방으로 가서 아가의 팔에 안겨 잠을 잡니다.
이 책을 통해 아무리 새로운 좋은 것이 많아도 결국 오랜 친구가 참 좋은 거라는 걸 아이와 이야기 할 수 있지요.
다행히 어린 릴리는 그것을 일찍 깨닫고 자기가 받은 그 모든 인형들을 동생에게 주고 자기는 파란 색 캥거루로 만족해합니다.
아이의 아름다운 모습을 그려낸 아름다운 그림책입니다.

색깔이 정말 이쁘네요.
파스텔풍의 재료로 수채화의 느낌을 낸 삽화들이 정말 아이들의 눈길을 잡습니다.
