블루 캥거루 시리즈를 만든 엠마 치체스터 클라크의 또 하나의 대표작입니다.

공원에서 반가운 친구강아지 로켓을 만나자마자 엠마가 안된다고 소리치는대도 불구하고 둘이서 연못으로 뛰어들어서 물에 빠진 생쥐꼴이 되기도 하고,

오리털 쿠션을 물어뜯어서 온 집안을 오리털로 뒤덮어 버리는가 하면,

공원에서 어떤 아이가 먹던 아이스크림이 들어 있는 가방을 물고 냅다 도망쳐서 결국 홀로 방안에 갇히는 벌을 받기도 했지요.

나는 사고친 것을 후회하고, 엠마와 루퍼트가 이제 더이상 나를 "사랑"하지 않으면 어떡하나 걱정했지만, 이런 말썽꾸러기인 나를 엠마와 루퍼트는 여전히 "사랑"해 줍니다. 그리고 다시는 사고치지 말라고 당부했고, 나도 이제는 착한 개가 되겠다고 다짐했지만...

이 책은 검은 강아지 플러미가 1인칭 화자가 되어서 강아지의 시각으로 진정한 "사랑"의 의미가 무엇인지를 보여줍니다. 유머러스한 글과 그림으로 부담없이 즐길 수 있는 재미있는 그림책입니다.
