[ 책 소개 ]
Tacky는 빙하에서 같은 펭귄들과 함께 삽니다. 펭귄들의 이름은 Goodly, Lovely, Angel, Neatly 그리고 Perfect입니다. Tacky는 펭귄 친구들과는 동떨어져서 외로이 홀로 지낸답니다. 매일 펭귄 친구들은 서로에게 조용하고 예의바르게 인사하지만, Tacky가 따뜻하게 인사라도 하면 등을 팍 때리며 "무슨 일인데?"라고 대꾸합니다. 펭귄 친구들은 항상 일정한 박자로 걷지만 Tacky는 우왕좌왕 합니다. 펭귄 친구들은 우아하게 다이빙하지만 Tacky는 물을 튀기며 시끄럽게 뛰어듭니다. 어느날 펭귄들은 쿵쿵거리는 소리를 들었습니다. 바로 사냥꾼이 나타난 것이었죠. 그들은 아주 거칠었으며 펭귄을 잡아갈 도구를 잔뜩 가져왔습니다. 다른 펭귄 친구들은 재빨리 얼음 뒤로 숨었지만 Tacky만 홀로 외로이 서 있었습니다. 사냥꾼들은 Tacky 앞에 와서 아까부터 음산하게 부르고 있던 "펭귄을 잡아가서 돈을 벌어 부자가 되겠다"는 노래를 불렀어요. Tacky는 사냥꾼들에게 평소의 행동을 보여주었습니다. 특히나 사냥꾼들은 Tacky의 참을 수 없는 노래에 귀를 막고는 도망가 버렸어요. 펭귄 친구들은 기뻐하며 달려와 Tacky를 꼭 끌어안았어요...
다른 펭귄처럼 우아하거나 조심스럽게 행동하지는 못하지만 진정 용기있고 따뜻한 마음을 가진 펭귄의 모습을 볼 수 있습니다.

표지가 두꺼운 판지나 보드지가 아닌 비교적 얇은 종이를 사용해서 만든 책이며, 실박음질 대신에 풀로 제본처리하는 경우가 많습니다. 일반적으로 하드커버나 보드북에 비해서 가격이 저렴합니다. 소프트커버로 불리우기도 합니다. 책의 이음새 부분이 접히거나 휘는 내구성이 그리 좋지는 않은 책입니다.

K-Gr 2 Tacky the Penguin is a total nonconformist who lives with a group of formal, proper penguins. But it is Tacky who foils the plans of three critters with ``get-rich-quick plans'' that threaten the penguins' existence. With his un-penguin-like antics, Tacky puzzles the hunters to such an extent that they're firmly convinced they cannot be in the ``land of the pretty penguins.'' This is a rollicking tale that clearly shows that there are ad vantages to being an individual. Mun singer cheerfully captures the mood of the tale with her whimsical, full-color illustrations that are particularly strong in depicting the hunters' deter mined, then befuddled, expressions and Tacky's madcap antics.
