Pinky and Rex share a weekend with their fathers camping indoors due to rain.
From the Publisher
Not even a torrential downpour can spoil the weekend Pinky and Rex spend camping with their dads. Full color.
Children's Literature
It is time for the big weekend camping adventure with their Dads, and Pinky and Rex are really excited. Those rain clouds in the sky look ominous, and soon it begins to rain. But the Dads are resourceful, and the great outdoor weekend becomes a great indoor weekend with a visit to a cavern, reptile museum, puppet maker's studio, train museum, indoor miniature golf course and even a "camp in." Best of all, Pinky and Rex agree, was spending time with their Dads. Others in the series include Pinky and Rex, Pinky and Rex and the Bully, Pinky and Rex and the Mean Old Witch, Pinky and Rex and the New Baby, Pinky and Rex and the Spelling Bee, Pinky and Rex Get Married, and Pinky and Rex Go to Camp. - Marilyn Courtot
School Library Journal
The seventh in the series about two best friends. While on a weekend camping trip, Pinky and his father and Rex and her father refuse to let their spirits be dampened by the nonstop rain. They explore a cavern, and later set up camp-tent and all-in a motel room. Subsequent plans take the four friends to a puppet-maker's studio, a reptile museum, a train museum, and, finally, to a miniature-golf course. Sweet's watercolor illustrations complement the text and show readers that these two children and their families are just ordinary people who know how to have fun in spite of the weather and enjoy being together. The universality of the adventures and the design of the book make this title attractive to beginning readers.-Sharron McElmeel, Cedar Rapids Community Schools, IA |
