The kids are off to the pool, but it isn't a swimming pool, it is a tide pool. As with other books in the "Magic School Bus" series, the bus and all within shrink down to match the new habitat. The kids learn about all the sea creatures, and even turn into hermit crabs so they can better explore the tide pool. Small insets representing notebook sheets provide additional facts that the kids have learned or observed. This is a painless way to learn more about this watery habitat and there is even a little mystery regarding the whereabouts of Arnold. Don't miss the little extra bits of humor, such as the changing signs on the bus and, of course, Miss Frizzle's dress, which gives a clue as to what the next adventure will be about.
