They decide that the kitten should be taken to the animal shelter, and then we see what happens when George's curiosity really takes hold. He is captivated by the puppies, and before you know it, he has let them out of their cage and my goodness they are into everything. As the man with the yellow hat and the director of the shelter gather them all up, they notice the mother dog barking at a door. One of the puppies had gotten away earlier in the day and hidden in the closet, now he is rescued and joins the rest of his family. George is instrumental in bringing about a happy ending, and, what is more, he ends up taking one of the puppies home. George is really very much like any curious two or three year-old. The original version of this story has been reissued in a lap-sized board book. |
