Book Description
Help your child learn about the alphabet. Challenge your child to match the capital and lowercase letters with their corresponding pictured items.
Children learn basic skills by matching an uppercase letter and lowercase letter to a photo of an object that starts with that letter, or by matching a number and number word to pictures representing the number. Also use the puzzles as a memory match game, as mini-flashcards, for sing-a-long and story time activities, and much more!
- Memory Match : Randomly place the capital and lowercase letters facedown in rows. Take turns turning over two letters at a time to find pairs. A pair consists of the capital and lowercase forms of the same letter. When a player finds a pair, he or she puts the pair in front of him of her and takes another turn. If the two puzzle pieces do not make a pair, the player turns the pieces facedown, and the turn is ended. After all the pairs have been matched, the player who has the most pairs wins the game. This game could also be played using the capital letters and the pictured items or the lowercase letters and the pictured items.
- Sing-along : After your child puts together all of the puzzles, let him or her sing the ABC song, pointing to each letter as he of she sing it.
- Story Time : Have your child choose a pictured item. Tell your child a story that relates to the pictured item. After telling the story, have your child draw a picture.
- What's Missing? : Choose three consecutive letters such as A, B, and C. Place the puzzle pieces for A and C faceup. Challenge your child to find the piece that is missing. Continue with other letters.
- Mini-Flashcards : Use the puzzle pieces as mini-flashcards to build speed in recognizing words and letters. |
