강아지 퍼시는 물웅덩이를 너무나도 좋아합니다. 웅덩이는 어떤 종류건 가리지 않고 좋아합니다. 진흙탕 웅덩이, 깊은 물웅덩이, 개구리가 사는 물웅덩이, 뛰어들기 좋은 웅덩이, 작은 웅덩이. 벌레가 있는 웅덩이, 달팽이가 사는 웅덩이, 고슴도치가 사는 웅덩이....
퍼시는 이런 웅덩이들을 찾아가기 쉽도록 웅덩이 지도를 만들었지요. 하지만 아무리 근사한 웅덩이라도 퍼시는 뭔가 2% 부족하다고 느꼈습니다. 그러던 어느날, 퍼시는 돼지우리 안에 돼지 가족들이 뒹굴고 있는 진흙탕 웅덩이를 본 순간, 자신이 그렇게 찾고싶었던 완벽한 웅덩이를 드디어 찾았다고 생각했습니다. 하지만 엄마 돼지는 퍼시가 돼지 우리 안으로 들어 오는 것 허락하지 않네요.
폭풍우가 몰아치는 날, 커다란 나무가 바람에 쓰러지면서 돼지우리의 울타리를 부숴버리게 되고, 부숴진 울타리 틈으로 막내 새끼돼지가 사라져 버렸습니다. 엄마돼지가 아무리 찾아봐도 보이지 않네요. 이 때 퍼시는 막내 새끼돼지가 어디로 갔는지 짐작가는 곳이 있었습니다. 막내돼지 역시 퍼시 못지않게 물웅덩이를 좋아한다는 점, 그리고 막내돼지는 몸집이 너무 작아서 크고 깊은 웅덩이보다는 자기 몸집에 어울리는 조그만 웅덩이를 좋아할 거라는 점을 고려해서, 퍼시는 자신이 그린 웅덩이 지도를 펼치고 새끼돼지가 있을 만한 곳을 선정했습니다.
퍼시는 새끼돼지를 찾아서 엄마돼지 품으로 돌려보내주고, 엄마돼지로부터는 돼지우리 안의 웅덩이를 사용해도 된다는 허락을 받아냈습니다...

Adorably irresistible Percy, a puddle-loving pug, makes a map of all the puddles he comes across while searching for the perfect one. He tries swamp puddles, stomp puddles, ready-for-a-romp puddles, foggy puddles, froggy puddles, and deeper-than-a doggy puddles, but none reach perfection. When Percy finds his dream puddle, he sees that it's already occupied by Mama Pig and her piglets, and he cannot win her acceptance. He tries to blend in, attempts to share a tasty treat, and even uses an underwater route to get to the puddle, but Mama Pig pitches him out. Then, when Petunia goes missing, it is Percy who knows where to find the little piglet. Happy, smiling animals, drawn with pencil and painted digitally, make cameos throughout the story. The pup's facial expressions are spot-on, and the rhyme and repetition are amusing and fun to read aloud. A beautiful tale of friendship, determination, and perseverance.
