FROM THE PUBLISHER
Now children can find their favorite page of the book every time! Tab Board Books are bright, colorful ways to make reading fun.
Children's Literature
This board book is bright and engaging for the littlest children. Large index tabs mark each page (the page with the numbers 1 and 2, for example). Each page has crisp photographs that illustrate the concept-eight spiders for the number 8, of course. The text is limited to one or two word captions for each photo and the page heading. Sturdy construction ensures a permanent place on a toddler's shelf. Also in the series are Animal Families, Super Senses, Let's Go Shopping, Color Fun, Happy Times, Color Fun, and Shapes Galore - Dr. Judy Rowen
School Library Journal
PreSThese colorful, small board books are worthwhile additions to the host of concept books for toddlers. Each title, arranged according to a conventional theme, contains five double-page-spreads of crisply focused photos of familiar objects. Primary colors predominate so that the photographed objects stand out clearly against the white backgrounds. Color Fun presents red, yellow, blue, orange, and green objects for children to name. Of the eight or nine things pictured in each spread, most are easy to recognize. However, a yellow elephant and a green duck labeled "sponge" are confusing. In Let's Count, the numbers 1-10 are represented by animals, food, and toys. Happy Times divides a child's day into five periods: wake-up time, lunch time, playtime, bathtime, and nighttime. Shapes Galore offers circles, squares, ovals, rectangles, and triangles. Each spread shows a child using an appropriate object. Most are part of children's daily lives, but a few, like a drafting triangle and fabric square, may be a stretch. Parents and children will enjoy poring over these attractive picture groupings.Nancy Seiner, The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh |
