Long ago, Myers writes, the world was divided into three kingdoms: earth, ruled by Elephant; sea, ruled by Shark; and air, ruled by Hawk. The three quarrel mightily as to who is greatest, and they laugh at the People, who, they say, exist only to do their bidding. With time, the People outwit the haughty trio by learning from the stories they tell around the fire at night. The tale of a child catching a butterfly at rest, for instance, sparks a plan to capture Hawk in the baobab tree. 해외 그림책의 다양한 사이즈를 즐겨 사 둡니다.
길쭉한 사이즈에, 그림 색깔은 피카소 분위기의 기학학적인 것 같기두 하구요.
미술에 관해 잘 모르지만, 일반적인 그림과는 차이가 나서 오히려
더 좋은 것 같아요.
내용은 태초에 땅과 바다, 하늘에서 자신들이 스스로 왕이라 자처하며,
오만하게 행동하다, 인간이 겸손히 자연의 힘을 받아들이면서, 끝납니다.
오늘날, 인간들이 자연을 파괴하고, 자신들만의 소유인냥, 지구를 맘대로
하는것에 경종을 울리는 내용인 것 같아요. 특히, 4대강 생각하면, 더 가슴이 아프구요.
내용은 그리 어렵지 않지만, 저학년보단, 3학년이상의 아이들과 읽고 토론하면 좋을 것 같아요.
We do not need to be masters of the earth. We can share because it is wise to do so.
