이런 식으로 비교급의 질문과 그에 따른 대답을 그림으로 확연하게 보여 주면서 현존하지 않는 공룡을 현재 시대에 있는 다른 동물들과 비교하여 재미있게 그려주고 있습니다.
아득한 먼 옛날 지구상에서 가장 거대한 동물로 태어나 한 시절을 장악하다가 원인도 모르게 모두 사라져버렸으니 호기심 많은 우리 아이들한테 공룡이라는 존재는 충분히 동경의 대상이 될 수 있겠지요.
이러한 생각들을 한 번쯤은 해보는 것도 참 재미있답니다.
페이지마다 공룡의 특징들을 잘 살렸기 때문에 말로 설명하지 않아도 충분히 추측할 수 있다는 것도 참 인상적이고, 거대한 몸체를 더 부각시키기 위해 여러 페이지를 열어 공룡을 큼직하게 그려주고 있어(Surprise fold-outs) 아이로 하여금 탄성을 자아내게 합니다.
마지막 페이지에는 이 책에 소개된 모든 공룡의 특징, 풍미했던 시대, 살았던 곳, 몸무게 등이 나와 있어 엄마가 아이에게 좀 더 자세한 정보를 줄 수 있습니다.
종이를 찢어 붙인 콜라주 작품(Magnificent torn-tissue collage)이라는 것 또한 이 책의 특징입니다.
