베스트셀러 그림책인 "Ida, Always"의 저자 Caron Levis가 글을 쓰고, "Bear Came Along"으로 Caldecott상을 받은 LeUyen Pham이 그림을 그린 재미있는 그림책입니다.

잠자기 싫은 가비는 할머니와 함께 "잠들지 않는 세계"로 환상의 야간 여행을 떠납니다.

처음 도착한 곳은 네온싸인이 번쩍이는 대도시 다운타운. 그곳에서는 밤새 파티가 열리고, 신나는 공연이 이어지네요.

다음에 간 곳은 놀이공원. 그곳에서 대회전 관람차를 탔어요. 그런데 높이 올라왔을 때 달빛 아래 너무 조용하고 평화로워서 할머니가 그만 큰 소리를 내며 하품을 하고 말았네요. 하품은 전염성이 있지요. 놀이공원에 있는 모두가 하품을 따라하더니 잠이 들기 시작하네요. 밤새도록 잠들기 싫어하는 가비는 음악을 연주하며 지나가던 마칭 밴드단에게 도움을 요청하지만, 어느새 하품의 전염성이 마칭 배드단에게도 퍼지기 시작하네요.

하품이 시내 전체로 퍼져나가자, 밤새 잠을 자지 않고 신나게 놀고 싶었던 가비는 종루에 올라가 종소리를 크게 울렸지만, 하품의 전염성은 막을 수 없지요. 결국 가비도 입을 크게 벌리고 하품을 하게 되고, 포근한 할머니의 품에 안겨 잠이 듭니다...
