직육면체 블록 모양으로 만들어진 Abrams 출판사의 Block Book 시리즈는 2013년에 알파벳에 관한 Alpha Block을 처음 출간한 이래 독자들의 격찬을 받으면서, 2019년에 농촌생활을 담은 Farm Block까지 총 8종이 출간되었습니다.

이 책은 자칫 지루할 수 있는 Counting Book을 어린 아이들이 흥미를 느끼면서 1부터 100까지 숫자 세기를 재미있게 배울 수 있도록 구성된 책입니다. 각각의 페이지들은 숫자 모양대로 재단이 되어 있어서, 어린 아이들이 책에 대한 흥미를 갖고 재미있게 즐길 수 있도록 구성되었습니다.

단순히 사물을 갯수를 세거나 숫자만 나열한 것이 아니라 Before와 After로 Guessing Game을 할 수 있도록 구성되어 있어서 아이들이 흥미를 갖고 숫자들을 재미있게 배울 수 있습니다.

예를 들면 1개의 도토리는, 페이지를 넘기면 커다란 1그루의 상수리 나무로 변해있고,
2개의 눈사람은 페이지를 넘기면 2개의 물웅덩이로 변하고,
6개의 털뭉치는 페이지를 넘기면 6개의 스웨터로 변하고,
20마리의 애벌레는 페이지를 넘기면 20마리의 나비로 자라며,
80개의 씨앗은 페이지를 넘기면 80개의 예쁜 꽃으로 변해 있습니다.

이런 방식으로 1부터 10까지 각각의 숫자별로, 그리고 20부터 100까지는 10개 단위로 숫자들을 세면서 재미있는 Guessing Game을 할 수 있습니다. 그런데 마지막 100개의 퍼즐조각은 페이지를 넘기면 무엇으로 변해 있을까요?
