시내 한복판에 한 블록이나 차지하는 파란색의 거대한 벽이 서 있습니다.

가을에는 아이들이 스케이트 보드를 타고서 그 벽을 지나가고,
겨울에는 길거리에서 치워진 지저분한 눈이 산더미 같이 그 파란벽에 쌓여져 있습니다.
봄에는 할머니가 맞은편 집의 계단에 앉아 차를 한잔 마시면서 과거 아름다웠던 시절을 얘기해주고,
여름에는 그 벽 앞을 아이스크림 트럭이 지나가면 아이들이 트럭 뒤를 쫓아 갑니다.

아무도 관심을 주지 않는 외롭게 서있는 파란벽.
어느날 한 아이가 벽을 변화시키겠다고 결심합니다. 멋진 벽화를 채워 넣기로 했지요.
어떤 그림을 그릴까? 벽에 그릴 그림을 기다란 종이 위에 그려봅니다. 친구들이 자신의 아이디어를 스케치해서 가져 오고, 할머니는 그림에 자신의 추억을 추가합니다.

벽에 그림 그리기를 시작하는 날. 가족들과 친구들과 이웃들이 뜻을 함께 해서 벽 앞에 모였습니다.
이제 거대한 파란색 벽은 텅 빈 캔버스가 됩니다. 사다리, 이층 작업대, 도르레 등을 이용해서 사람들은 벽에 그림을 채워나가기 시작합니다.

아이들의 상상력과 마을 사람들의 노력이 합쳐져 마침내 멋진 벽화가 완성되자, 이제 그 벽은 쓸모없는 흉물이 아니라 도시의 명물이 되었습니다. 벽화를 구경하러 사람들이 모여들고, 그 앞에서 사진도 찍고, 노점 가게들도 줄지어 들어서고, 누군가는 버스킹 공연도 하네요.
