[ 책 소개 ]
이 책의 작가인 Arnold Lobel은 1981년 "Fable"로 Caldecott Medal을 수상했으며, "Frog and Toad are Friends"(1971), "Hildilid's Night"(1972)로 두차례 Caldecott Honor를 수상한 역량있는 작가겸 Illustrator입니다. 또한 부인인 Anita Lobel과 함께 만든 "On Market Street"(1982)로 Caldecott Honor를 수상하기도 했습니다.
이 책은 홀로 사는 올빼미의 이야기 5편이 실려 있습니다.
1. The Guest : 추운 겨울날 문이 덜컹거리는 소리를 들은 올빼미는 밖에는 매서운 바람과 눈만 쌓여 있는 것을 보고 겨울을 집안으로 초대했다가 고생하는 이야기
2. Strange Bumps : 침대에 누운 올빼미는 발치에 뭔가 볼록한 것 두개가 튀어 나와 있는 것을 보고는 겁을 먹고 잠을 자지 못합니다.(볼록한 것은 사실은 자기 발입니다.)
3. Tear Water Tea : 눈물로 만든 차를 마시고 싶은 올빼미는 온갖 슬픈 일들을 생각합니다.
4. Upstairs and Downstairs : 윗층과 아랫층에 동시에 있고 싶어하는 올빼미의 황당한 행동이 재미있습니다.
5. Owl and the Moon : 외롭고 쓸쓸한 올빼미의 새로운 친구가 된 달의 이야기입니다.
