Harry G. Allard의 흥미있는 이야기와 Caldecott상 수상자인 James Marshall의 수채화같은 그림으로 된 그림책과 테이프 세트입니다. 넬슨 선생님을 주인공으로 한 그림책 중 하나입니다.
넬슨 선생님이 일주일 동안 학교에 나오지 못하게 됩니다. 207호 아이들은 비올라 선생님이 다시 올까봐 무척 겁나합니다. 심지어 진짜 마녀라고 합니다. 월요일 아침 넬슨 선생님반 아이들은 초조해합니다. 비올라 선생님이 오면 어쩌나 해서요. 하지만 다행히 교장선생님이 들어오십니다. 그런데... 교장선생님은 아이들을 재밌게 하려고 노력하시지만.... 지루한 아이들이 뭔가를 꾸미는군요. 이런! 인형으로 가짜 넬슨 선생님을 만들어 교장선생님을 속이는군요. 아이들은 가짜 넬슨 선생님을 데리고 여기저기 데리고 다니지만 그만 진짜 넬슨 선생님이 그 광경을 보고 맙니다. 아이들은 어떻게 될까요? 다시 비올라 선생님이 오실 것 같지 않은가요?

Children's Literature
Allard gives the reader a well-rounded teacher-character as mischievous as her students. Miss Nelson, with her warmth, insight, and sense of humor, is a welcome change from the usual, more one-sided portrayals of the teacher. During her absence from school, Miss Nelson's class hatches a clever plot allowing them to act out their "playing hooky" fantasies. But in the midst of their fun, the dread substitute, Miss Viola Swamp, descends upon them, wielding authority with a heavy hand. Miss Nelson is greeted exuberantly upon her return-but what has become of Miss Swamp? Marshall's cartoon-like illustrations perfectly complement the zany tone of the story. - Mary Quattlebaum
