오래된 스코틀랜드 동요를 바탕으로 해서 만든 그림책입니다.
사랑하는 아내, 10명의 자녀와 함께 언덕 위의 집에 사는 Lachie McLachlan은 마음이 너그러운 사람입니다. 폭풍우가 몰아 치는 날, 그는 지나가는 나그네들에게 항상 이렇게 외치지요. "Always room for one more!" 그날도 역시 많은 나그네들이 그의 집에 머물렀습니다. 파이프 악기의 연주에 맞춰 신나게 노래부르고 춤을 췄지요. 그러다가 그만 집이 무너지고 말았습니다. Lachie와 가족들은 크게 낙심했어요. 그러나 나그네들은 모두 힘을 합쳐 더 크고 멋진 집을 지어주었습니다.
영어문장은 스코틀랜드 동요를 그대로 옮겨 적었기 때문에 사투리가 많아 이해하기가 어렵습니다. 그러나 다행스럽게도 책 말미에 사투리들에 대한 설명을 달아 놓았기 때문에 해석에 큰 도움이 됩니다.
스코틀랜드 동요가 악보 및 가사와 함께 실려 있어서 책을 다 읽고 난 후 반주에 맞춰 함께 노래를 불러 보는 것도 색다른 즐거움입니다.
