[ 저자 소개 ]

이 책의 Illustrator인 Suzy Lee(이수지)는 전 세계에 가장 널리 알려진 한국인 동화책 작가 중 한 명입니다. 1974년 서울에서 태어나 서울대학교에서 서양화를 전공했으며, 한국과 영국에서 회화와 북아트를 공부했습니다. 그녀의 책들은 한국뿐만 아니라 미국, 프랑스, 스페인, 독일, 브라질, 일본, 이탈리아, 스위스 등 전 세계에서 각국 언어로 출간되었습니다.

그녀의 책 중에서 『La revanche des lapins(토끼들의 복수)』는 스위스의 가장 아름다운 책 상을 수상했고, 볼로냐 국제 어린이도서전 올해의 일러스트레이터에 선정되었습니다. 그리고 『Wave (파도야 놀자)』를 비롯해 두차례나 뉴욕 타임스 최우수 그림책에 선정되었고, 또한 미국 일러스트레이터 협회 올해의 원화전 금메달을 수상하기도 했습니다.

When the boy turns on the radio, blue swirls of music animate the space; even the stuffed rabbit's ears perk up. As dance connects music and water, the children skip out into the puddles. Jackson's words wisely allow room for Lee's imagination. He makes no reference to rain; that interpretation of a "beautiful day" is the illustrator's. The story is propelled by the author's spirited verses, featuring internal and end-of-line rhymes that scan with only an occasional bump: "This beautiful day… / so great for parading, // for cartwheeling fun / or hiding / and seeking // or gliding / and sliding / in this marigold sun." Listeners will track the momentum of these kinetic kids as they swing from trees with friends, parachuting back to earth with umbrellas à la Mary Poppins. Digitally manipulated acrylics in summery shades fill the pages as the day brightens, offering another take on the title. Popsicles, paired with an e.e. cummings-esque arrangement of "doodly-doo"s and parenthetical bodily sounds, relax this jazzy, pizzazz-y romp-until the wind whips up. A delightful depiction of the ability of children to find joy regardless of atmospheric conditions.
