월트는 조그만 제설차입니다. 폭설이 내리던 날, 다른 커다란 제설차들은 눈을 치우기 위해서 총 출동했는데, 몸집이 작은 월트는 어떤 운전기사에게도 선택을 받지 못해서 혼자 남게 되었네요. 하지만 운전기사 거스는 월트의 능력을 잘 알고 있었어요. 월트와 거스는 한 팀이 되어서 눈을 치우기 위해 출발~!

월트는 몸집이 작은 대신에 폭이 좁은 다리나 마을의 집들 사이를 다니면서 눈을 치울 수 있지요. 그리고 눈을 녹일 수 있는 소금도 싣고 있어요. 높은 언덕에 도착했을 때, 거스는 월트에게 포기하자고 하지만, 월트는 힘을 내서 언덕 위로 올라갔어요. 중간에 힘이 딸려 미끄러지기도 했지만, 온 힘을 다해 결국 언덕 위로 올라갈 수 있었지요. 월트가 길을 내고 소금을 뿌리면 덩치 큰 제설차는 월트가 치워놓은 길을 뒤따라 오면서 더 넓게 눈을 치우는 일을 하네요.

월트가 기대보다 훨씬 많은 일을 하고 차고지로 돌아 왔을 때, 모두들 큰 환호로 맞이해 줍니다.

There’s just enough vehicular geekiness for aficionados: Gus goes through a four-point checklist to make sure that Walt is in good working order, and there are sound effects throughout. But what gives the story its verve is Rosenthal’s digitally colored pencil artwork, which has a matter-of-fact open-heartedness and a compelling sense of place that recalls the stories of Virginia Lee Burton.
