시몬이 체조에 입문하게 된 계기는 우연 때문이었습니다. 시몬이 다니던 유치원에서 농장에 견학 가기로 한 날에 비가 내리는 바람에 견학일정이 취소되자 농장 대신에 체조 학원에 견학을 갔고, 거기서 코치는 시몬의 천부적인 재능을 알아 봅니다.

하루하루가 지나면서 시몬의 실력은 급성장했으며, 그녀의 천부적인 재능에 초인적인 노력이 더해져서 시몬의 실력은 최고가 되었습니다. 하지만 미국대표팀 선발에서 제외되자 체조에 대한 불꽃이 사그라지는 듯 보였으나, 가족들의 무한 사랑과 격려로 다시 일어날 수 있었습니다.
