생쥐 치과의사 드소토씨는 솜씨가 좋아서 동물사이에 인기가 높습니다. 큰 동물이 오면 입속에 직접 들어가서 꼼꼼하게 치료를 해주기도 하지요. 하지만 고양이 같은 동물들은 치료를 해주다가 잡혀 먹힐 수가 있기 때문에 치료를 사절합니다. 어느날 썩은 이 때문에 고통스러워 하는 여우가 치료를 해달라고 애원을 하자 드소토씨는 마지 못해 받아들입니다. 하지만 여우는 치료를 받으면서 생쥐를 꿀꺽 잡아먹을 생각을 하지요. 드소토씨도 여우의 속셈을 눈치챘어요. 일단 썩은 이빨을 뽑은 후 새 이빨을 끼우기 위해 다음날 다시 돌아오라고 하고서는 드소토씨는 의사로서의 양심과 생명의 위협사이에서 고민에 빠집니다. 그러나 좋은 꾀를 생각해 내서 치료도 마치고 목숨도 건지게 됩니다.
