개울을 사이에 두고 양쪽 둔덕의 굴 속에서 사는 티노와 티니는 멀리서 서로를 몰래 몰래 바라보며, 상대방이 사랑스럽다고 생각합니다. 그러나 둘 다 부끄럼을 너무나도 많이 타는 성격이어서 상대방에게 자기의 감정을 이야기 하지 못하고 마음 속으로만 간직하고 있었습니다. 그러다 티노는 좋은 아이디어를 떠 올립니다. 티니에게 자기가 사는 곳에는 날씨도 너무 좋고, 특히 맛있는 클로버가 많이 있으니 같이 뜯어 먹자고 편지를 써서 티니가 찾기 좋은 나무구멍에 넣어 두기로 합니다. 그런데 티니도 똑같은 생각을 하고는 편지를 써서 같은 나무구멍에 넣어 두네요. 그런데 비에 젖은 생쥐들이 나무구멍으로 들어 왔다가 편지들을 발견하고는 냐금냐금 먹어버리는 불상사가 발생하고...
너무나도 사랑스러운 반전이 기다리는 재미있는 그림책입니다.
특히 영문 편지를 쓰는 법을 제대로 보여주는 책입니다.

And when a family of cold, wet mice seeks shelter in the log, what better to keep them warm than letters, chewed, chomped, and shredded just so?
Luckily, the sun returns and, realizing what they've done, the matchmaking mice help Tino and Teeny piece together their true feelings.

Valentino and Valenteeny, two timid bunnies, admire one another from afar, but their shyness keeps them from speaking. Then each one decides to write the other a letter and mails it in the local hollow log. Later, rain forces a mouse family to take refuge in that very log. To make the spot more comfortable, they shred everything they find, including the two letters. It is only when the bunnies are reduced to tears because they have received no replies to their correspondences that the mice realize what they have done. The sweet resolution to the problem results in a happily-ever-after ending. This is a charming story, perfect for Valentine's Day, though the holiday is never mentioned. The rabbits and mice are endearing characters, drawn in an appealing manner. The double-page picture of the sleeping mice surrounded by paper fragments of Love and Warmth and Exceptional Tenderness is especially enchanting. The large, colorful illustrations and delightful story make this a wonderful storytime selection.

Professing one's love and admiration is never easy--even using the old letter-in-a-hollow-log approach. In this sentimental "bunny love story," Valentino (Tino) shyly admires Valenteeny (Teeny) from afar, and she him. They both write flowery letters to each other and hide them in the same hollow log, only to have them shredded as nesting material by a family of mice: "They were snug and safe and surrounded by Love and Warmth and Exceptional Tenderness." The mice, witnessing the eventual sobbing of the forlorn, letterless bunnies, are horrified to discover what they've done and quickly cobble together a new letter for the rabbits, using all the best, warmest words from both notes. Tino and Teeny see that their love is requited after all in an unapologetically happily-ever-after ending. Simply drawn, appealing bunnies and mice gambol through the oversize format. The background of each spread has the look of torn, textured handmade paper scattered with a pressed potpourri of flowers, clovers, and petals, an effect that echoes the flowery nature of this just-in-time-for-Valentine's-Day story. |

상품평도 없고, 처음 보는 책이라 구입을 망설였는데
상품 소개만 보고 재미있는 내용일 것 같아 구입했는데 너무 좋아요.
여자 아이들이라면 누구나 좋아할 것 같아요.
면지의 느낌도 연애 편지의 느낌을 한껏 ..

면지의 느낌도 연애 편지의 느낌을 한껏 살렸구요,
생쥐들이 편지의 글을 재편집해서 더 멋진 연애 편지를 만들어낸 부분도 정말 멋졌어요.
아마 이책을 읽고나면 글을 쓸줄 아는 아이라면 연애 편지 만들기에 심취하게 될 것 같네요.

글밥은 좀있는편이지만 어렵지 않은 내용으로 듣는 아이도 받아들이기 쉬워 합니다.
토돌이, 토순이 사랑얘기라 우리아이 요즘 유치원에서 남자친구 얘기 많이 하는데 ,, 재밌나봐요^^

 나중에 유용할듯... |
귀여운 두마리의 토끼가 서로를 몰래 좋아하는데 부끄러워서 말은 못하죠.
그래서 편지를 써서 나무구멍에 넣어두기로 해요.
둘다 똑같은 생각을 하는거 보면 천생연분인듯... ㅎㅎㅎ

우여곡절 끝에 해피엔딩이 되는 즐거운 책이랍니다.
이 책은 영어로 편지쓰는 법을 배울수 있을것 같아서 나중을 위해 미리 구입했어요.
