Eric carle

1929년 미국 뉴욕주 중앙의 조용한 교육도시 Syracuse에서 태어났습니다. 1967년, 저명한 교육자이자 작가인 빌 마틴 주니어의 요청으로 삽화를 그린 『Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?』가 크게 히트하면서 이후 세계에서 가장 유명한 어린이 그림책 Illustrator가 되었습니다. 현재는 미국 메사추세츠주의 Northampton에서 그의 부인과 함께 살고 있습니다.

Eric Carle의 그림책들은 각 페이지마다 계속 묻고 답하는 구조로 되어 있는 rhymes & repetition이 특징이며 특유의 콜라쥬 기법을 이용한 반추상화적인 화풍과 독특한 색감은 어린이 뿐만 아니라 어른들도 책을 읽는 재미를 느끼게 해줍니다.
