보드북(Board Book)은 표지와 속지가 모두 두꺼운 카드보드지로 만들어진 책입니다. 잘 찢어지거나 구겨지지 않기 때문에 나이가 어린 아이들을 위한 책으로 주로 만들어지며, 책 내용도 원본에 비해 축약되는 경우가 많습니다. 주로 두장을 겹쳐 단단하고 오랫동안 눌려있을 경우 페이지와 페이지가 붙을 수 있습니다.

With die-cut pages that grow progressively larger, Philippe Dupasquier matches nine different colored pencils, one to a spread, with corresponding animals, including a cardinal, yellow butterflies and pink flamingoes in Red Blue Color Zoo. The penultimate page depicts a flock of black bats. Two titles by Jane Chapman follow the same format: Let's Go! and Let's Build! In both books, a different vehicle appears on successive die-cut pages, each larger than the last. The first title, for example, begins with a single motorcycle and ends with a car carrier loaded with four Volkswagen Beetles.
Children's Literature
The light is green but the man on the yellow scooter isn't going anywhere. Traffic jam! What is holding up the line of cars? In this shaped board book, successively larger die-cut pages reveal each vehicle stuck at the light. On each page-turn, the motor scooter inches forward as he passes an ambulance (empty, one hopes), a garbage truck, a farm tractor towing a bale-filled trailer, a fire truck, a camper pulled by an SUV, a bus, and a big rig. The last page shows the cause of the traffic tie-up-an auto carrier with a flat tire. At last, the scooter scoots ahead. Primary hued cars and trucks idle against different colored backgrounds. The brief text is positioned on uncluttered space in an easy-to-read font. Young motorists will enjoy looking at the various drivers, pets, and passengers who wave from their windows. The companion to Let's Build is a fun, interactive book. |
