Abraham이 책을 좋아하는 것을 알 수 있는 부분을 적어보면서 딸아이도 이런 Abraham의 좋은 점을 닮았으면
하는 바람을 가져봤어요.
1.
Sally helped Abraham to study at night. He read by firelight.
He borrowed books and newspapers. He read about George Washington.
He read the Bible. He wrote poems. He taught himself.
(Sally는 Abe의 두 번째 어머니 이름이에요.)
2.
Abraham almost always had a book in his pocket or in his hand.
He even carried a book with him when he plowed the field.
He would read while his horse was resting at the end of a corn row
3.
Abe wore a tall silk hat in which he kept bills, notes, and legal papers.
Sometimes when he took off his hat the papers fell on the ground.
Abraham이 아버지를 도와 농장일도 하고 통나무도 베면서 flatboat을 타고 돼지와 옥수수를 시장까지 싣고 나르는
일도 하네요.
이 외에도 Abraham이 거쳤던 직업이 점원, postmaster, delivered mail, surveyed land, lawyer을 했었네요.
