윌리엄은 평범한 남자 아이와 다르게 인형을 좋아하네요.
자신이 인형의 아빠인 것처럼 인형을 안아주고 얼러주며 젖병도 물어주면서 공원에 데려가서 그네도 태워줘요.
형들은 "Don't be a creep!"
"Sissy, sissy, sissy!" 라며 놀려요.
아빠는 윌리엄에게 농구공과 장난감 기차를 사주며 놀게해요.
But it had nothing to do with the doll.
William still wanted one.
어느 날 할머니가 집에 오셔서 윌리엄과 산책을 해요.
할머니는 윌리엄이 정말로 원하는 것이 인형이라는 것을 알고 인형을 사줘요.
윌리엄 아빠는 윌리엄은 남자아이라며 할머니에게 화를내요.
William's grandmother smiled.
"He needs it," she said,
"to hug
and to cradle
and to take to the park
so that
when he's a father
like you,
he'll know how to
take care of his baby
and feed him
and love him
and bring him
the things he wants,
like a doll
so that he can
practice being
a father."
