Spot is spending the night at his friend's house. Packing and unpacking the needed items, playing, and eventually sleeping are presented in Hill's typical lift-the-flap style. Spot is swinging on a tree, lift the flap and he's slipped out and is walking towards his mother who has brought him something. Lift the last flap and children see that Mom has brought Spot's teddy bear. The bright watercolors and simple story line will appeal to preschoolers, while the large type and simple vocabulary may entice beginning readers. No surprises here, but in this case that's just fine.
