[ 책 소개 ]
더운 여름날, 헛간에는 어미돼지와 새끼 돼지들, 개, 소, 양, 그리고 고양이가 함께 누워 있었습니다. 고양이는 다른 동물들을 모두 내쫓고 헛간을 혼자서 차지하면 좀더 시원할 거라고 생각했습니다. 우선 돼지들에게 Shoo~하고 소리를 질러서 헛간 밖으로 내쫓고, 개, 소, 양들도 Shoo~ 소리를 질러서 모두 내쫓았습니다. 밖으로 쫓겨 나간 동물들은 당나귀를 만나서 고양이에게 "쫓겨나간" 자초지종을 얘기하고, 당나귀는 그 말에 힌트를 얻어서 "쫓기 놀이"를 하지고 하네요. 모든 동물들이 서로를 쫓으면서 재미있게 "쫓기 놀이"를 하자, 헛간에 혼자 남은 고양이는 외로움을 느낍니다. 그리고 동물들에게 다시 헛간으로 들어 오라고 얘기하지만 모두들 밖에서 노는 것이 더 재미있다고 하면서 거절을 합니다. 고양이가 다른 동물들을 쫓아 낸 것을 뒤늦게 후회하고 있을 때, 새끼 돼지 한 마리가 헛간으로 들어 와서 같이 쫓기 놀이를 하자고 말합니다. 고양이는 신이 나서 밖으로 뛰어 나가지만...

Book Description
Crafty Cat has hatched a plan to chase the other animals out of the barn, but will it be a runaway success or farmyard folly? The latest picture book from Children's Laureate, Michael Rosen. It is a very hot day on the farm so all the animals are cooling down in the shady barn. But Cat is still feeling hot and bothered. He doesn't want to share the barn with the others, so he sneaks up ever so quietly behind Pig and all the Piglets! and suddenly shouts 'SHOO!'. And it works! The piggies scamper out of the barn, and so Cat quickly sets about chasing all the other animals away too. But once he's accomplished his aim, Cat sees that all the other animals are having fun outside whilst he is left all alone in the barn. Maybe his plan wasn't such a good idea after all!
