Children's Literature
Opposites are a popular topic for board books. Child has joined in with her take on opposites. Lola is quite a character and apt to try anything, so we see her standing on a chair then off the chair and standing next to it. Peas are the subject for many verses few and wet as compared to dry shows Lola in the tub and then wrapped up in a hooded, fluffy white towel. The last comparison is a bit unusual and not one that appears in many board books—ordinary as compared to extraordinary. The three Lolas are compared to a strange monster, but could not both be considered extraordinary? Quirky and offbeat, Lola may not appeal to all kids. A companion to Charlie and Lola's Numbers.
