Book Description
Lola and her ever-patient brother get clear on some concepts in a wryly instructive board book for the younger set.
Everyone knows that Lola has one brother, Charlie. But open this whimsical counting book to learn that she also has two toothbrushes (one for her and one for her lion friend), four moon squirters (which look a lot like tomatoes), and a very active imagination.
Children's Literature
Numbers are a popular topic for board books. Child has joined in with her counting book. The numbers are represented by a very odd assortment. Lola has one brother. Okay, that is not so unusual. But two toothbrushes with a lion standing next to her brushing his teeth - now that is unusual. Food is the focus for numbers three, four, and five - ranging from fish sticks to cookies. An odd number of socks represents seven and ten fingers, and a final spread showing more than ten elephants wrap up this lesson in counting from one to ten. It is a bit bizarre and Lola may not appeal to all kids. A companion to Charlie and Lola's Opposites.
