이 책은 "A Very Special House"로 Caldecott상을 받은 Ruth Krauss가 글을 쓰고, "The Stray Dog"와 "A Tree Is Nice"로 Caldecott상을 받은 Marc Simont가 그림을 그렸습니다. 우리나라에서는 "코를 킁킁"이라는 제목으로 번역되었습니다.
눈이 내리고 있어요. 모든 동물들이 잠들어 있습니다. 들쥐도 곰도 달팽이도 다람쥐도....... 그런데 동물들이 잠에서 깼군요. 눈을 뜨고 코를 킁킁거리더니 뛰어나갑니다. 그러더니 모여서 웃으며 춤을 춥니다. 동물들이 소리칩니다. " 오 이런! 눈속에 꽃이 자라고 있어!!!"
Rhyme으로 이루어진 문장은 간결하면서도 반복적이어서 매우 흥이 납니다. 단색으로 그려진 그림은 매우 부드러운 느낌이며, 눈이 오는 풍경이 여백의 느낌처럼 포근하게 다가옵니다.

[ 작가 소개 ]
Ruth Krauss, a member of the experimental Writer's Laboratory at the Bank Street School in New York City in the 1940s, imaginatively used humor and invented words to create some of the very first books for children that highlighted the child s inner life. She collaborated with some of the greatest illustrators in children s literature, including her husband, Crockett Johnson.
