The singsongy rhyme may get to adults who are reading it aloud, but little ones will probably like the tale of the little bug who goes for a walk. "He met a cat and stopped to talk. / They fell in step and strolled a while, / and bumped into a crocodile." So it goes, with the bug meeting a pig who danced the jig, a toad heading down the road, and a host of others. The comical characters are silly and nicely executed in watercolors outlined in pen. Felicia Bond is the renowned illustrator of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, If You Give a Moose a Muffin, and If You Give Pig a Pancake, all written by Laura Numeroff, and Big Red Barn, by Margaret Wise Brown. She is also the author and illustrator of Tumble Bumble and the Poinsettia books. She lives in Austin, TX, and in a small village near Santa Fe, NM.
