Boston Globe
Superb informational book for young readers.

Chicago Tribune
No little caterpillar trapper should be without Bugs. . .

The New York Times Book Review
This entomologically charming book with nifty magnified bug pictures enlarges the tiny creatures to easily scrutable size. . . . The color illustrations, with precise anatomical tags, are a fine tool for introducing children to different ways of life.

Science Books & Films
The unsuspecting reader who scans the jacket blurb is told that ticks, spiders, centipedes, and . . . slugs are insects! The book itself indicates that a 'bug' is any creepy-crawlie, but it also calls a grasshopper 'a typical bug or insect.' . . . As a book that is directed to young naturalists and budding scientists, Bugs should, but doesn't, avoid ambiguity. . . . Fortunately, the jacket's outright errors are not carried into the book itself. Nevertheless, the text does little to correct the false impression gained until the final page where, belatedly, Arthropoda are distinguished from Mollusca and Insecta from other groups of arthropods. These shortcomings detract from what is otherwise a lively, amusing, and well-presented book, suitable as a general-awareness text.
