[ 책 소개 ]
추운 겨울이 오면, 대부분의 쥐들은 아무도 밖으로 나오려고 하지 않고 따뜻하고 포근한 땅 속이나 고목 나무 속에서 따뜻한 봄이 오기를 기다리며 지냅니다.
하지만 이 책의 주인공인 루시는 다른 쥐들과는 달랐습니다. 루시는 너무나도 겨울을 좋아했으며, 밖에 나가서 눈꽃송이를 맛보고, 눈밭 위에 누워서 자신의 모습을 새기기도 했습니다.
루시는 친구들과 눈에서 신나게 놀고 싶었습니다만, 모두들 밖에 나가려고 하지 않네요. 어느날 루시는 빙판 위에서 미끄러지면서 좋은 아이디어가 떠올랐습니다. 솔잎과 털실을 이용해서 스케이트를 만들고, 빙판 위에서 신나게 스케이팅을 할 수 있게 되었죠.
이제 친구들에게 이런 신나는 스케이팅의 재미를 알릴 일만 남았죠. 루시는 며칠동안 친구들에게 아무말도 하지 않고 방 안에서 조용히 친구들을 위한 스케이트를 만들었습니다. 루시가 방 안에서 무엇을 하고 있는지 궁금해 하는 친구들에게 자신이 만든 따뜻한 털모자를 씌우고 자기를 따라와 보라고 했습니다.
그리고 꽁꽁 언 연못에 도착했을 때, 친구들은 놀랍고 멋진 광경을 보게 됩니다. 루시는 멋진 스케이팅 실력을 친구들에게 보여줬지요. 마침내 친구들은 루시와 함께 스케이트를 타게 되고, 겨울이라고 해서 굴 속에서만 지낸다면 이런 새로운 기쁨을 경험할 수 없다는 것을 깨닫게 됩니다.
