From the Publisher
It's time for Maisy to go to bed. First she drinks her bedtime drink, then she has to brush her teeth, wash her hands, and put on her pajamas. There's a lot to do. So pull the tabs, lift the flaps, and help Maisy get ready!
From School Library Journal
Move over Spot--Maisy has come to town. In her first adventure, a winter-bundled Maisy heads for the pool. As readers pull tabs and lift flaps, she takes off each colorful item. After the blue hat, scarf and mittens, brown boots, red jacket, green trousers, etc. come off and a rainbow bathing suit is pulled on, Maisy goes for a swim. In the second book, it's time for Maisy to go to bed. As the sky magically darkens, she gets the obligatory drink, then uses the potty. Courtesy of flap and pull-tab magic, the toilet really flushes and the toilet paper pulls down. After hand-washing, tooth-brushing, pajama-donning, and a bedtime story, it's time to pull the covers up. Goodnight Maisy. Maisy, a sweet white mouse, is a charmer. The bright colors--in a primitive, blocky art style--and the subject matter are naturals for the toddler set. However, as well engineered as these are, the flaps and tabs will suffer wear and tear from small fingers --Karen K. Radtke, Milwaukee Public Library
From Publisher's Weekly - Publishers Weekly
By moving tabs and lifting flaps that manipulate such items as clothes that pull on and off, a toothbrush and a tiny bedtime book with real pages, little ones can help Maisy Mouse prepare for a swim or get ready for bed. Though the action requires a gentle touch and some of the movements may be difficult for small hands, these books with their unusual use of paper mechanics offer a creative approach to basic concepts. Cousins's painting and lettering, reminiscent of a child's use of tempera, provide an air of whimsicality to Maisy's endeavors that will be instantly recognized by children beginning to do daily tasks for themselves. Ages 2-5. (Sept.)
