[ 책 소개 ]
Eric Carle의 그림책은 독특하고 창의적인 아이디어, 콜라쥬 기법을 이용한 단순하고 화려한 그림, 그리고 Rhyme을 맞춘 간결하고 반복적인 문장으로 전세계 어린이들의 사랑을 받고 있습니다.

북극곰의 커다란 몸집과 하얀 색, 플라멩고의 핸섬한 몸매, 여우의 영리함, 물고기의 수영능력, 사슴의 달리는 능력, 기린의 긴 목, 거북의 단단한 등껍질, 코끼리의 힘, 물개의 재미있는 모습 등을 원했어요. 그래서 결국 뿔이 달리고 코끼리 코에 여우 꼬리, 거북이 등, 물고기 지느러미ㅡ 플라멩고 다리, 기린 목 등을 한 괴상한 동물로 변해버렸죠.
그런데 이러한 동물들의 장점만을 다 모아놓았다고 해서 정말 훌륭한 동물이 된 것일까요? 카멜레온은 배가 고파서 파리를 잡아먹고 싶었지만 그런 괴상한 모습으로는 도저히 파리를 잡아먹을 수 가 없었지요. 그래서 카멜레온은 자기 자신의 모습으로 돌아가기를 원했습니다.
무지개색으로 각 동물들을 표시하고 여러 동물들의 특징을 모두 갖게 되는 카멜레온의 모습이 재미있게 그려져 있습니다.

Eric carle
1929년 미국 뉴욕주 중앙의 조용한 교육도시 Syracuse【� 태어났습니다. 1967년, 저명한 교육자이자 작가인 빌 마틴 주니어의 요청으로 삽화를 그린 『Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?』가 크게 히트하면서 이후 세계에서 가장 유명한 어린이 그림책 Illustrator가 되었습니다. 현재는 미국 메사추세츠주의 Northampton에서 그의 부인과 함께 살고 있습니다.
Eric Carle의 그림책들은 각 페이지마다 계속 묻고 답하는 구조로 되어 있는 rhymes & repetition이 특징이며 특유의 콜라쥬 기법을 이용한 반추상화적인 화풍과 독특한 색감은 어린이 뿐만 아니라 어른들도 책을 읽는 재미를 느끼게 해줍니다.
