This book is a treasure chest of special effects. There are large dinosaurs that pop up in the center of pages; pull-tabs that cause unexpected results; push-pull tabs that move dinosaurs across pages and up and down; textured and glittering papers that fill cut-out spaces on the pages; and an absolutely delightful purple baby dinosaur that can be pulled up from its egg. Special effects alone; however, are not the only strength of this book. There is a double page spread that simulates a trip to a natural history museum with huge pop-up dinosaur skeletons and a typical moving screen presentation so familiar to museum visitors in large cities. Various dinosaur types are illustrated and identified with their names also spelled out phonically for pronunciation so the reader will be informed as well as entertained and amused.
