이 책을 지은 팻 허친스는 The Wind Blew, Rosie's walk, Goodnight owl, Changes changes 등 수많은 베스트셀러 그림책을 만든 세계 어린이들의 큰 사랑을 받는 작가입니다. 국내에도 로지의 산책, 자꾸자꾸 모양이 달라지네, 사냥꾼 하나, 자꾸자꾸 초인종이 울리네, 바람이 불었어 등 팻 허친스의 책들은 거의 모두 번역서가 출간되었습니다. 이 책 Titch 역시 국내에는 "티치"라는 제목으로 번역서가 출간되었습니다.
어린 티치는 형 피트, 누나 메리보다 키도 작고 가지고 노는 것도 정말 작아요. 자전거도 형과 누나는 커다란 두발자전거인데 티치는 조그만 세발자전거입니다. 형과 누나가 연을 가지고 노는 동안 티치는 팔랑개비를 갖고 놀지요. 하지만 티치에겐 형, 누나보다 훨씬 크고 멋진 무언가가 있답니다. 그것은 바로 조그만 씨앗이지요. 작고 하찮아 보이던 티치가 작은 씨앗을 심습니다. 그리고는 언제나 자기보다 훌륭한 일을 한다고 우쭐대는 형과 누나보다 훨씬 크게 나무를 키워서 둘을 깜짝 놀라게 합니다. 작고 힘없는 아이들에게 용기를 주는 내용입니다.
